Carpet Pricing Considerations

There is a very wide variance in carpet prices, this stems from the numerous different factors involved in the price.  Typically speaking about carpet prices they will be based on the size of required carpet and will be measured and price per the square foot.   In turn you can figure out the bigger size room you want to carpet will result in a higher cost than any smaller room.

The next grade is referred to with the term; base grade, sold in prices from $1.65 per sq. ft. upwards to $2.10 per sq. ft.  This is fairly affordable carpet, however it will still lack the quality required for carpeting the nicer rooms of your home.  The intended use would be for rental homes or the basic carpeted businesses.

Moving up to the next grade referred to with the term; medium grade, sold in prices from $1.95 per sq. ft. upwards to $4.05 per sq. ft.  This is the range where you will find the nice carpets, but more than that, these carpets will hold up very well to activities and other foot traffic. 

The best grade is of course referred to as the highest grade carpet, sold in prices starting at the $4.00 per sq. ft. mark and goes upwards from there.  When purchasing the highest grade carpet, the cost will typically include installation, removal of old carpets, and quite possibly the padding.

Finding cheap carpet prices can be a daunting task, however cheap carpet can be found.   It can be found everywhere low grade carpet is sold, it can be found in a wide variety of colors and styles as well.   However, if low grade carpet is not exactly the quality of carpet you were looking for then you should continue your search. 

The good news is cheaply priced carpet crafted in a higher grade can still be found.   You should begin your search in the bigger warehouses or discount outlet stores.  You can often find carpet prices will be reduced if a particular line is being discontinued, or when a retailer has surplus carpet, perhaps a once popular style trend that has faded leaving excess carpet on the shelves.  Searching far enough can even result in finding high grade carpet that will be sold at a great reduction in price possibly stemming from a slight imperfection in the color somewhere.  Knowing you can install that piece under your bed or couch out of sight you can score big getting high grade carpet for extremely low prices.

As with the purchase of carpet and the varying prices, having your carpet cleaned has a wide variety of price ranges as well.   There are different ways to look for this service as well, beginning with renting a carpet shampooer, buying the shampoo and doing the work yourself, right up to hiring a professional team of carpet cleaners to come into your home moving all the furniture and shampooing every inch of your carpet in a matter of hours for a very high price.  Even the high dollar price will vary depending on size of carpet area, possible stains or pre-treatment being required to having a type of “scotch guard” applied to your carpet as it is being cleaned.  

Regularly you can find special deals in price reduction for one or two rooms of carpet cleaning as it is a top advertising gimmick for many carpet cleaning companies.   An additional option to consider would be purchasing your own hand held or upright carpet shampooer from any number of reputable dealers.  The initial cost could be from a few hundred dollars upwards of a thousand dollars, however if you have young children, a large family, house hold pets, or other heavy foot traffic requiring regular carpet cleaning this might be the cheapest way to go in the big scheme of things.
